because everyone hates a tourist
I’ve had just over a week of ‘down-time’ and I already feel like getting back to the trails however, I will wait out the prescribed two weeks. This weekend I’m heading to Vancouver and Victoria to visit my sister and catch a Band of Horses concert on Saturday night. Maybe I’ll get a couple runs in Beacon Hill and Stanley Park, which is nice because I won’t actually be running long so those venues won’t consist of too many loops.
I stayed on in Berlin for the rest of the week to get all the tourist stuff done. That way I didn’t feel like I needed to see anything before the race and I could just concentrate on getting ready for the marathon. Here are some pics (plus one from race and one athlete banquet).
Around 34km mark.

Cobblestone section we raced over, with red marathon line
View from Victory Column (AKA Chick on a Stick). You can see Brandenburg gate (start/finish line) at the end of the road. The park on either side is where we did our runs the week of the race.
