because everyone hates a tourist

August 31, 2009

I’ve had just over a week of ‘down-time’ and I already feel like getting back to the trails however, I will wait out the prescribed two weeks.  This weekend I’m heading to Vancouver and Victoria to visit my sister and catch a Band of Horses concert on Saturday night.  Maybe I’ll get a couple runs in Beacon Hill and Stanley Park, which is nice because I won’t actually be running long so those venues won’t consist of too many loops.

I stayed on in Berlin for the rest of the week to get all the tourist stuff done.  That way I didn’t feel like I needed to see anything before the race and I could just concentrate on getting ready for the marathon.  Here are some pics (plus one from race and one athlete banquet).

Around 34km mark.

Reid, great run in Berlin! Looking forward to seeing what you can do in the marathon, now that your feet are wet. I’ll be at Band of Horses Saturday night, too – maybe I’ll run into you. Let me know if you’re up for a run Sunday morning…

Who needs the New York Times when I can read all about it in Reid’s blog: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/24/world/europe/24bratwurst.html?em

    Hello Reid,

I am a student of graphic design and illustration at Capilano University, in Vancouver, Canada. While doing a project for school (a design for a book cover), I came across your image of cobblestones in a Google search . I love your photo, it is perfect for my concept. I was wondering if I could have your permission to use it for my project. I will not be selling the design and would be happy to send you an image of the completed design when I’m done.

Sorry for posting this as a comment, I couldn’t find any contact information on your blog.

      Hi Cara,

no problem at all if you want to use it. In case you’re curious the road is called Am Kupfergraben, it’s across the river from the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.

      Reid
