Slow down baby keep your eyes on the road
It feels good to be back in the great white north and I had a great long run today with Cal Staples on my favorite winter “loop”. It’s an out-and-back run on a dirt road that crosses over the 401, but as Scotty said, “If you run on one side of the road and then the other side on the way back, it’s actually a really long, skinny loop.” Anyways, the cold didn’t bother me at all because the sun was shining and the footing was solid.
The previous three days saw Timmy K. and I drive over 1000 miles from Auburn, AL to Guelph with stops in Knoxville and Detroit (then Windsor for OUA’s) and finally home. Since I knew I would take it easy with the travelling I made sure to log a ton of mileage in my last seven days in Auburn. 119 miles in seven days but, as my elder peers have told me, it does not count as an official weekly high. A record high for total mileage in one week becomes void if; 1) The week does not end on the same day as one would normally end it on, and it should end on a Saturday or Sunday, (my seven day total was from Friday to Thursday), also; 2) having two long runs in one 7 day period while not having a long run in the 7 days prior or post of the said week (I did not break that rule).
There wasn’t really any major highlights during the road trip as it rained a lot and we had to pay a lot of attention to the road. This guy saw me take his picture, that was a highlight I guess, mind you it happened in the first 15 minutes of the drive. Did I mention it was raining hard…

That pic looks like “Winter In Courtenay”. Thanks for the previous responses regarding training.
Also, never give your total in Kms.
I don’t even know why I put 119 miles there, I should have put 193km like a good Canadian boy. I reckon the month down South affected me more than I thunked it did.
Because you know the rules.
